Payton McNabb, a young woman who suffered serious injuries from a collision with a transgender volleyball player, expressed her disappointment after receiving little support from congressional Democrats during President Donald Trump’s recent address. McNabb was in the gallery when Trump acknowledged her story, but she noted that no Democrats applauded her or other guests who had faced significant challenges.
In an interview with Fox News, McNabb described the lack of support as “heartbreaking.” She pointed out that the Democrats did not stand for any of the honored guests, including DJ Daniel, a boy who survived brain cancer, and the family of Laken Riley, whose daughter tragically passed away. McNabb said it was upsetting to see such disrespect towards individuals with powerful stories.
McNabb, now an activist advocating for women’s sports, criticized the Democratic Party for blocking legislation aimed at protecting women from transgender athletes. She believes this shows a lack of concern for women’s issues. “The Democrat Party failed women. They don’t care,” she stated, emphasizing that many female athletes have similar stories that deserve attention.
She also expressed her disappointment in how the Democrats conducted themselves during the address, calling their behavior embarrassing for both their party and the country. McNabb concluded by saying that the events of that night would stay with her for a long time, highlighting the emotional impact of the experience.
